7 Ways To Save On Gas

November 23, 2008 by hjrickey

Even though oil prices have come down you wouldn’t know it by looking at the pumps, would you? Well, thought I’d give you some easy tips to cut your fuel costs and put some money back in your pocket.

1. Tighten your gas cap – When your gas cap is loose or open the gas in the tank evaporates which means you’re throwing money down a hole
2. Clear air – Replace your dirty air filter and you’ll get 10% more fuel efficiency
3. Less gas is more – A full tank of gas is heavy and reduces your mileage – so only filling your tank half way will increase your mileage
4. Red Lines – revving or goosing your engine into the higher rpm’s is a sure way to gobble gas. Keep the rpm’s below 2000 and save money
5. Tires – make a quick stop at the station to check your tire pressure – soft tires means bad mileage. Read the recommended tire pressure inside the door jam or on tires themselves
6. Overweight – The golf clubs and box of books in the back of my car are costing me money in gas to haul them around. Get rid of excess weight
7. Share – Everyday at rush hour a car after car going the same direction with only one person inside. Take turns driving with someone who works or lives near you and you’ll save 50% on commuting costs. Look on craigslist or google for people interested in a ‘carpool’ who work and/or live near you.

[Editor Note: Run your car on water? "Yeah right!" you're saying. It's true...The technology to run your car on water has been available since the early 1900's!?

Why haven't we heard about it? Petrol gas has been so cheap until recently. Watch short video on how to run your car on water and save 12-45% on fuel costs ]
